It's a common question, and a reasonable one — men want to know whether circumcision status will rule them in or out before they invest in a consultation. The short answer is that it won't. Both circumcised and uncircumcised men are candidates for the Himplant. Here's why circumcision isn't the deciding factor, and when a cosmetic circumcision is something to consider on its own terms.
From Dr. Robbins' PracticeCircumcision status is not a gate for the Himplant. I've placed the implant successfully for both circumcised and uncircumcised men. What matters is health, anatomy, and goals.
The Short Answer
No — you do not need to be circumcised to get a Himplant. The procedure is performed for both circumcised and uncircumcised men. Circumcision status simply isn't a requirement, and it's not something that disqualifies you either way.
Why Circumcision Status Doesn't Decide It
The Himplant is a soft silicone implant placed in the subcutaneous plane — the soft-tissue layer beneath the penile skin. The presence or absence of foreskin doesn't change the surgical plane where the implant goes or how it's positioned around the shaft. That's why the device, invented by world-renowned urologist Dr. James Elist, works for men regardless of whether they've been circumcised.
If You're Uncircumcised
Uncircumcised men are candidates for the Himplant. During your evaluation, I assess your individual anatomy — skin laxity, tissue quality, and overall health — to confirm a good fit and to plan the procedure appropriately for you. Being uncircumcised does not require you to undergo circumcision first.
Combining a Cosmetic Circumcision — Optional, Not Required
Some patients do choose to address foreskin appearance at the same time as a girth procedure, for their own aesthetic preferences. In those cases a cosmetic circumcision can be discussed as a separate, elective consideration. But it's a choice — not a prerequisite for the Himplant. Whether to combine procedures is a decision we make together, based on what you want and what's appropriate for your anatomy.
What Actually Determines Candidacy
The factors that genuinely shape Himplant candidacy are general health, your anatomy, realistic expectations, and clear goals — not circumcision status. The Himplant is a cosmetic girth implant; it is FDA-cleared, placed in a single 45–90 minute outpatient procedure, and carries a limited lifetime warranty. If you want a fuller picture of who the procedure is designed for, see Am I a Good Candidate for the Himplant?
The Bottom Line
Circumcision is not a requirement for the Himplant, and being uncircumcised does not disqualify you. A cosmetic circumcision is an optional, separate choice for patients who want it — never a precondition. The right way to confirm your candidacy is a personal evaluation of your anatomy and goals.
