What Is the Himplant®?

The Himplant is a soft, medical-grade silicone implant specifically engineered for long-lasting penile girth enhancement. Unlike injectable fillers or fat grafting, which can migrate, dissolve, or produce uneven results, the Himplant is a solid-state device that maintains its shape and position indefinitely once placed.

The implant features a 270-degree wraparound design that sits beneath the skin of the penile shaft. It conforms naturally to penile anatomy, providing a uniform increase in circumference while preserving full erectile function, sensation, and urinary flow.

The Himplant® — FDA-cleared silicone implant

The device is the creation of Dr. James Elist, a world-renowned urologist who spent over a decade developing and refining the technology before receiving FDA clearance. This is not an erectile dysfunction device. The Himplant is a purely cosmetic enhancement for men who desire a meaningful, lasting increase in girth — without the temporary nature and risks of injectable alternatives.

Sized to your anatomy

The Himplant is not one-size-fits-all. It is manufactured in multiple sizes, and the appropriate one is selected during your consultation based on your existing anatomy and your goals. Choosing correctly matters more than choosing the largest option — an implant disproportionate to the surrounding tissue is what produces an unnatural result. Dr. Robbins reviews sizing with every patient before a surgical date is set.

In Dr. Robbins’ Words

“Sizing is determined mostly by patient factors, not preference. I look at existing girth, skin elasticity, how the tissue moves, and the length of the penis on stretch. I don’t choose a size that is excessive — that is what leads to visible edges, discomfort, and an unnatural look. The right size is the one your anatomy can carry.”

It can be removed

Because the Himplant sits in the subcutaneous plane rather than inside the erectile bodies, it can be removed in a straightforward outpatient procedure if a patient ever chooses. Recovery after removal is typically quicker than the original placement. This is a meaningful distinction from procedures that permanently alter the erectile tissue itself, and from injected materials such as PMMA, which cannot be reliably retrieved once integrated into tissue.

In Dr. Robbins’ Words

“Needing to remove a Himplant is not common — it is usually a patient changing his mind, or in rare cases an infection or complication. When it is necessary, we open the same incision and enter the capsule the body has formed around the device. The implant mostly slides right out of that capsule; only the tacking sutures need to be cut. It is typically a simple procedure.”

What the Himplant is not

It does not treat erectile dysfunction, and it will not improve the rigidity or reliability of an erection — a man with ED will still have ED after placement, and should be evaluated for that separately. It is not a length procedure; the change is to circumference. It is not an inflatable penile prosthesis, which is an entirely different device implanted inside the erectile bodies to treat ED. And it is not an injectable: nothing is deposited into tissue that can migrate, clump, or reabsorb unevenly over time.

How it compares with injectable and grafting approaches

Hyaluronic acid fillers and fat grafting both add volume by placing material into tissue, so both are subject to the same fundamental limitations — the body reabsorbs some or all of it, results change as it does, and maintenance sessions are required to hold the effect. Fat grafting is additionally unpredictable, with a wide range of graft survival between patients. The Himplant takes a different approach entirely: a single pre-formed device of known dimensions, placed in one procedure taking 45–90 minutes, that does not depend on the body retaining injected material. It carries a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.

Why INTIMÉ Miami

Dr. David Robbins — Board-Certified Urologist

Dr. David Robbins is one of a select number of board-certified urologists in the United States trained and authorized to perform the Himplant procedure. He completed his training directly under Dr. James Elist, the device’s inventor, and has incorporated the procedure into a practice built around surgical precision and patient discretion.

In Dr. Robbins’ Words

“I am a urologist. Taking care of men with sexual concerns and performing penile surgery and reconstruction is what I do every day — the Himplant is a natural extension of that work. There is no question you can ask me that I will find embarrassing or judge you for. The questions patients are most nervous to ask are usually the most routine ones for me.”

“In my training with Dr. Elist, I learned that Himplant surgery is about precision, accuracy, and optimizing the patient’s result — and that being there for the patient matters as much before and after the operating room as inside it. My patients have easy access to me by text and phone through the entire pre-operative and post-operative period.”

Himplant at a Glance: long-lasting device, 45-90 minute procedure, one session, surgically removable, limited lifetime warranty. FDA-cleared soft silicone penile girth implant.
Five key facts about the Himplant procedure.

Key Advantages

  • Long-Lasting Girth Increase

Unlike fillers that dissolve over months or fat grafts that reabsorb unpredictably, the Himplant delivers a lasting result that does not diminish over time.

  • FDA-Cleared Silicone

The device has received FDA clearance as a Class II medical device. The soft silicone material is biocompatible and has a well-established safety profile.

  • Preserves Function

Based on past studies, erectile function, sensation, orgasm, and urination are unaffected. The implant sits beneath the skin and does not interfere with the internal structures of the penis.

  • Natural Look and Feel

The soft silicone conforms to penile tissue and moves naturally. Typically, the result looks and feels organic to both the patient and partner.

  • Single Outpatient Procedure

Generally, placement is completed in a single surgical session lasting approximately 45–90 minutes. Most patients return home the same day.

  • Manufacturer Warranty

The Himplant device is backed by a manufacturer limited lifetime warranty, providing additional peace of mind. Terms and conditions apply. View warranty policy.

Important Considerations

Transparency is central to how we practice. While the Himplant delivers outstanding results for the right candidates, not every man will qualify, and realistic expectations are essential:

  • Previous Penile Surgery

Men who have undergone prior penile surgeries — including other implants, injections, or surgical modifications — are typically not candidates for the Himplant. Scar tissue and altered anatomy may prevent safe placement.

  • Results Vary

Individual anatomy, skin elasticity, and healing response influence the final outcome. Dr. Robbins will provide a realistic assessment during your consultation based on your specific anatomy.
