The Himplant procedure is an outpatient surgery, and most patients return home within a few hours. Recovery is generally straightforward, but following Dr. Robbins’ post-operative instructions closely is essential for optimal healing and the best possible outcome.
Swelling and mild discomfort are normal and expected during the first few weeks. The implant will feel firm initially and gradually soften as tissues settle around the device. Final results are typically visible between three and six months after surgery.
Sexual intercourse and masturbation must be avoided until Dr. Robbins provides explicit clearance, typically at 4–6 weeks.
Weightlifting, running, cycling, and high-intensity workouts should be avoided for at least 4 weeks. Light walking is encouraged from day one.
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, baths, and saunas until the incision is fully healed. Showers are permitted after the dressing is removed.
Alcohol should be avoided while taking prescription medications. Smoking and nicotine products impair blood flow and slow healing — cessation is strongly recommended.
Patients are required to email progress photos to the clinic every week for the first 6–8 weeks. Monthly updates are sufficient thereafter. This is essential for Dr. Robbins to monitor your healing remotely and address any concerns early.
A post-operative compression sleeve is provided and should be worn at all times per Dr. Robbins’ instructions. The sleeve is your primary barrier against infection and supports proper healing. It should be changed and replaced as directed during follow-up visits.
Use non-scented, hypoallergenic, vitamin-enriched lotion on the skin to maintain moisture and prevent chafing. Do not shave the area with a razor — electric trimmers are acceptable. Watch for signs of irritation or yeast infection (candida) and notify the office if observed.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing such as boxer briefs or sweatpants. A jock strap or similar scrotal support may be recommended for the first 3–4 weeks to provide additional comfort and stability.
To support maximum healing, Dr. Robbins recommends daily supplementation with L-Arginine (1000 mg, three times daily) and L-Citrulline (500–750 mg daily). These supplements are available over the counter and support healthy blood flow and tissue recovery.
The Himplant device is backed by a manufacturer warranty that covers the implant itself. Specific warranty terms, duration, and coverage details will be discussed during your consultation and provided in writing before surgery. The warranty provides additional assurance that the device is built to last.
It is important to note that the manufacturer warranty covers the device, not the surgical procedure or associated medical costs. Dr. Robbins will explain exactly what is and is not included so there are no surprises.
While complications are uncommon, you should contact Dr. Robbins’ office immediately if you experience any of the following during recovery:
Increasing redness, warmth, or spreading discoloration around the incision; drainage of pus or foul-smelling fluid; fever above 101°F (38.3°C).
Sudden, severe swelling that worsens rather than improves; pain that increases after the first few days rather than gradually diminishing.
Inability to urinate, significant pain during urination, or blood in the urine beyond the first day or two.
Dr. Robbins and his team are available by phone during and after business hours for post-operative concerns. You are never alone during recovery.
